Biography
Ajda Hedžet is a researcher at the Centre of International Relations and an assistant professor at the Chair of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is also a Fellow of the Regional Network of Centres for Advanced Studies in Southeast Europe (RECAS), a member of the European Partnership for Democracy Young Researchers’ Network, and an Editor of the Journal of International Relations and Development.
She completed her PhD in International Relations at the University of Ljubljana. Her research examines how international organisations construct political subjects through practices of governance, with a particular focus on young people, participation, and the inclusion of historically marginalised and affected groups in international institutions.
Alongside her research, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on international relations, human rights, European institutions, global politics, and academic writing, and has supervised master's theses within the European Master in Human Rights and Democratisation programme.
As a Max Weber Fellow, Ajda will develop a book manuscript based on her doctoral dissertation on youth and international human rights governance. She will also complete two book chapters: one examining how the UN Youth, Peace and Security agenda governs youth participation through practices of inclusion, and another exploring emerging hierarchies of human rights at the intersection of international human rights and refugee protection regimes.
