Biography

Carolina Biliotti is a current Max Weber Fellow at the Department of Economics. She obtained a PhD in Economics, Networks and Business Analytics from the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca in 2025. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Florence and is an affiliate researcher at the Knowledge Lab at the University of Chicago.

Her research focuses on gender dynamics in authorship and recognition within scientific publishing, with particular attention to scientific novelty and rapidly evolving research fields. Her methodological expertise includes quasi-experimental causal inference, supervised machine learning, text-analysis and natural language processing.

During her Max Weber Fellowship, she aims to pursue new research opportunities, finalise and disseminate ongoing work, and continue building her academic profile through both research and teaching. Her teaching experience includes serving as a teaching assistant for machine learning courses for PhD students in Economics at IMT and for Master’s students, as well as completing the Teaching Certificate Course at the EUI.
