Biography

Dr. Diya Sarkar Ghosh is a Post Doctoral Fellow affiliated to the Max Weber Programme 2025-2026. Prior to joining the Max Weber Fellowship, Diya engaged as a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich (March – August 2025). Her doctoral research focussed on privacy and data protection from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), India (2024). Her keen interest in information technology led her to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Law and Cyber Forensics from the top ranked National Law School of India University (2023-2024).
Her work life has unfolded in the academic field since inception. She completed her master’s degree in law with a specialization in “Constitutional Law and Governance” from National University of Study and Research in Law, India (2014). Subsequently she worked as a faculty at School of Law, KIIT between 2014-2021 where she involved in both academic and administrative roles.
As a Max Weber fellow, Diya is pursuing her research in the Department of Law under the theme “Technological change and society”. Her research focusses on a critical evaluation of the application of facial recognition technology by law enforcement bodies with a special emphasis on the European Union.
