Dominik Brenner is a Research Fellow at the School of Transnational Governance (STG) of the European University Institute (EUI). Before joining the STG, Dominik was a Research Fellow at the Department of Public Policy at Central European University (CEU), where he also held visiting lecturer positions at the Department of Political Science and the Department of International Relations. He additionally held visiting research positions a at the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics at Sciences Po Paris as well as the Department of Political and Social Sciences at EUI. Dominik holds a Ph.D. in Political Economy from CEU.Dominik's research revolves around questions of policy volatility and institutional change. On the supranational level, his research focuses on questions of incremental change towards the European single financial market as well as the drivers behind broader supranational policy volatility. On the national level, his research links questions of policy volatility to legislative favouritism, good governance mechanisms, and the effect of Better Regulation tools. At the STG, Dominik is working for the LIBRAD project, which shifts the research focus to the regional level. Within LIBRAD, his work focuses primarily on the interplay between populist rule and regional political economy, subnational data collection, and causal inference with observational data.
