Biography

Francesca Chiara Ciccarelli is a Project Associate at the School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute (EUI), where she works on the ERC Advanced Grant LIBRAD (Democratic Administration under Illiberal Rule), led by Prof. Michael W. Bauer. She holds a PhD in Urban Planning, Design and Policy from the Polytechnic University of Milan, and was previously a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early-Stage Researcher in the CORAL-ITN network.

Her research sits at the intersection of sociology and regional studies and has addressed themes connected to socio-spatial inequalities, including spatial disparities in cultural and creative production, precarious work and wellbeing at work across urban and rural areas, and touristification processes in marginalised areas. At STG, she supports the operational side of LIBRAD and contributes to its research on how populist subnational governments affect regions and reshape public administration.
