Biography
Franco Peirone is Assistant Professor in European Public Law at Maastricht University - Faculty of Law since September 2021. He is a Visting Fellow at the European University Institute - Law Department for Fall 2025.
He developed his legal education at University of Torino (LL.B. M.A., 2011; Ph.D., 2015), University of Maastricht (Visiting Student, 2010), the George Washington University (Visiting Scholar, 2014), Università del Piemonte Orientale (Post-Doctoral Scholar, 2016) and New York University (LL.M., 2017), where he has been Emile Noël Fellow at the Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice (Post-Doctoral Fellow, 2018). Since 2022 is Visiting Professor at Reichmann University (Tel-Aviv).
At Maastricht University - Faculty of Law he is affiliated to the Public Law Department and to MCEL. He is Secretary of the ICON-S Benelux Chapter. He has authored articles and book chapters published in national and international journals on the issues of rule of law, corruption, and legal temporality. He teaches in the fields of public and EU law. His academic interests include EU Law, Constitutional Law, and Legal Theory.
