Hanna Eklund is Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Copenhagen. She specialises in European Union law and her latest research project has been concerned with the question of how Europe’s colonial history has shaped the development of EU law. This work has been published in the article ‘Peoples, Inhabitants and Workers: Colonialism in the Treaty of Rome’ (European Journal of International Law 2024), and in the edited collection Colonialism and the EU Legal Order (Cambridge University Press 2025).She is currently working on recent developments in the area of citizenship law and race discrimination, as well as on the question of what should guide the EU’s interaction with the world.
