Biography

Joanna is mediation and dialogue practitioner and political leader with over 16 years of experience from inside the EU institutions. Joanna works at the heart of European democratic transformation, where deep political divides meet the urgent need for consensus. Since 2022, as Advisor in Mediation at the European Parliament’s Mediation and Dialogue Support Unit, she has designed and facilitated inter-party dialogue in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada under the Jean Monnet Dialogue program, representing the European Parliament in mediation rounds since the start of the war. This builds on 16 years advisory work inside the European institutions, including as Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to President David Sassoli, and on her experience as an elected municipal councillor in Brussels. She sits on the National Management Council of the Polish Green Party (Zieloni) and is a member of the European Green Party (EGP) Political Management Committee .

She holds an a PhD from the University of London, Royal Holloway. At the EUI’s School of Transnational Governance, Joanna is turning her first-hand mediation experience into research on parliamentary mediation as a distinct field, using the Verkhovna Rada as a case study of dialogue facilitation under war, polarization, and asymmetric power.
