Juan A. Mayoral is Distinguished Researcher in the Department of Social Sciences at the University Carlos III of Madrid as well as Global Research Fellow in the Centre of Excellence for the Study of International Courts (iCourts) at the University of Copenhagen. He is also Deputy Director of the Jean Monnet-Madrid Centre for Interdisciplinary EUropean Studies (MACIES) and hold two Jean Monnet Chairs: on EU law & Politics (EUPoLex) in 2019 and on interdisciplinary EU governance (PromethEUs) in 2022.Since completing his PhD at the European University Institute (EUI), his work has focused on EU law, judicial studies, and Europeanization by adopting an interdisciplinary approach that combines doctrinal analysis with qualitative and quantitative methods. As a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the EUI, he will advance his research on the role of judicial trust in EU legal integration. This project seeks to define the interdisciplinary nature of trust among EU judges through the implementation of mixed empirical methods.
