Biography

My research lies in refugee and migration studies, where I am broadly interested in two topics: 1) citizenship acquisition and the socio-economic effects of naturalisation; 2), refugee policies in authoritarian regimes. Methodologically, my research combines expert interviews with archival research (at UN organisations, parliaments, refugee organisations) and biographical interviews. During the Max Weber fellowship, I am based at the Robert Schuman Centre's Global Governance Programme, where I will combine my two research interests and work on naturalisation politics in authoritarian refugee-hosting states.

I have an interdisciplinary background in Political Science and Sociology and hold a DPhil in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford (Centre on Migration, Policy, and Society). My previous work experiences include a postdoc at the University of Oxford’s Refugee Studies Centre, as part of the research group 'Refugee Economies Programme‘, research for the Horizon 2020 project ‚Aligning Migration Management and the Migration–Development Nexus‘, as well as a year in journalism between my master’s and my doctor. I remain a Research Associate at the Refugee Studies Centre, Oxford.
