Biography

Lidia M. Rodak is a legal scholar at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, and the Principal Investigator of the National Science Centre (NCN)-funded research project Women’s Socio-Legal Justice: The Analysis of Women in Poland. Her research lies at the intersection of feminist jurisprudence, philosophy of law and socio-legal studies, with a particular focus on feminist epistemology, relational approaches to law and the relationship between legal authority and lived experience.

At the EUI, Lidia is developing her project Feeling Like Law: Women’s Living Law Practices and Relational Validity, which examines how women's collective practices generate alternative forms of epistemic and normative validity, both within and beyond formal legal institutions. Building on her broader research on relational authority, care and feminist legal theory, the project explores how lived experiences acquire normative significance through institutional recognition or through autonomous relational practices.

Lidia is the author of two books, Zranione uzdrowicielki. Od epistemologii kobiecych do sprawiedliwości relacyjnej (Wounded Healers: From Women’s Epistemologies to Relational Justice, 2025) and Judicial Objectivity: Limits, Merits and Beyond (Peter Lang, 2020). She has also published in international academic journals, including Griffith Law Review, Oñati Socio-Legal Series, Hague Journal on the Rule of Law, Studi sulla Questione Criminale and Droit et Cultures.

She holds a joint PhD in Law from Ghent University (Belgium) and the University of Silesia in Katowice (Poland), as well as a Master's degree in Legal Theory from the European Academy of Legal Theory in Brussels. She obtained her Italian Habilitation (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) in 2021.
