Biography

Lois Harder is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Professor of Political Science at the University of Victoria, Canada. Her research focuses on citizenship law, social policy and the regulation of intimate life. She has published on the dynamics of birthright citizenship in Canada (Canadian Club: Birthright and Belonging - University of Toronto Press, 2022) and plans to extend that research project during her visit to the EUI. In particular, she is interested in exploring how the idea of belonging has been articulated in legal developments concerning derivative citizenship in Canada and in the EU.
