Biography

Full Professor of Economic History at the University of Oviedo, Department of Economics, Dean (Nov. 2014 - Dec. 2018); Vice-Dean of International Relations and ECTS coordinator, School of Economics and Business (2010-2011). Coordinating Professor of Economic Analysis of Tourist Destinations, (2001-2007), Master’s in Comercialization of Tourist Services, University of Cantabria. Professor of PhD course: Historiographic research on the Francoist regime, Department of Contemporary Humanities, University of Alicante (2004-2010).

Professor of the Master’s degree in History of Contemporary Europe: Identities and Integration, University of Alicante (2011). Visiting Professor of the European University Institute (1995-96). Visiting Fellow (1998) and Senior Reseach Fellow (2013) at Business History Unit of London School of Economics. Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, Economics Department and RCC Fellow, Harvard University (2000-01). Principal investigator for the Research’s Group of the University of Oviedo, Economics of Tourism (2001-2009). Axalta Chair Director (2017-2021). Visiting Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (EUI; Sept 2019- March 2020 & Feb -June 2026).

Currently teaching World Economic History.
