Biography

Dr. Rishabh Kachroo is a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute (EUI). His research is located at the intersection of Science and Technology Studies, International Relations, and Governance Studies. At EUI, Rishabh’s research will examine how scientific authority is constructed, contested, and reconfigured in contemporary India. The project would speak to wider debates on democratic legitimacy, public trust, and the role of expertise in societies undergoing political and social churning.

Before joining EUI, Rishabh was a Short-Term Visiting Fellow at the JSW Centre for the Future of Law, National Law School of India University in India where his work examined India’s COVID-19 vaccine governance as a constitutional and regulatory design problem.

He holds a PhD in International Relations and Governance Studies from Shiv Nadar University. Rishabh’s doctoral work critically examined the co-production of scientific authority and public reason in India, focussing on the shaping of discourse around vaccines and vaccination by interactions between the state, scientific institutions, and the publics.

He also holds degrees in Biotechnology and Politics: International and Area Studies and is passionate about research informing public reasoning and institutional practice. His writings seek to bridge disciplinary divides and he has written extensively in the public domain.
