Biography

Rohit is an S.J.D. candidate in the Department of Legal Studies at the Central European University. His doctoral research examines the history of citizenship laws in India and the United States. Prior to beginning his S.J.D., Rohit studied law in India and Hungary and briefly taught at Jindal Global University in India. Outside academia, Rohit worked as an Equality Fellow at the Center for Law and Policy Research, Bengaluru, and as a lawyer on matters relating to irregular migration before the Guahati High Court. Before joining the EUI, Rohit was a Reflex Fellow at the Center for Reflexive Globalisation and the Law at Humboldt University.

At the EUI, Rohit will work on a project on decolonizing constitutionalism that draws on the fields of confluence philosophy, connected history, and postcolonial thought to advance a theory of world constitutionalism from the global South(s).
