Biography

Sophie von Knebel has been Office Director of the German political foundation Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in Nigeria since 2024. She has over 14 years' experience in international development, democracy promotion, science diplomacy and trade facilitation. Previously, she was Head of a Coordination Group at the DLR Project Management Agency in the unit of European and international cooperation. She also led a trade facilitation project in the ECOWAS region for the GFA Consulting Group. Sophie holds a Diploma in Political Economy from the University of Cologne and is certified in systemic consulting and organisational development. She is fluent in German, English and Spanish.
