Biography

Teresa Simas holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Tilburg University and a master’s degree in economics from the Barcelona School of Economics. She is currently employed at the European Central Bank within the Oversight of Financial Market Infrastructures and Payments, where her work focuses on quantitative analysis. In her role, she supports policy teams by conducting empirical analysis of financial market infrastructures and payment systems.

In addition, she is currently working as a Research Associate on an EU-funded project evaluating the impact of financial literacy initiatives in Portugal. This project is part of the Florence School of Banking and Finance, a programme of the Robert Schuman Centre at the European University Institute.
