Biography

Thomas (Tom) Hermans is an Alderman for Amsterdam West with over 15 years of experience spanning aviation, shipping, and politics. As alderman, he focuses on housing, sustainability, spatial planning, and economic development to improve the daily lives of citizens. Previously, he worked at the Port of Amsterdam, advancing the transition toward a circular and carbon-neutral port in collaboration with public and private partners. He also managed campaigning and fundraising for D66, the Dutch social-liberal party. Thomas holds an MSc in European Political Economy from the LSE and speaks Dutch, English, and conversational Spanish.
