Biography
Tomáš A. Nagy is a policy professional with a specialised focus on international security, currently conducting research on enhancing strategic stability by addressing the space–nuclear nexus. Since 2024, he has held the position of Senior Research Fellow for Space, Nuclear, and Missile Defence at GLOBSEC, where he directs research and policy advocacy across these interrelated domains.
He previously served as Slovakia’s representative to NATO’s Nuclear Planning Group, contributing to alliance discussions on nuclear deterrence and strategic posture. Between 2020 and 2023, he held the rank of General State Councilor—the highest in the Slovak civil service—advising two Deputy Ministers of Defence on regional and transatlantic security policy, with emphasis on nuclear, space, and missile defence issues.
Earlier in his career, he was among the inaugural research fellows at the GLOBSEC Policy Institute, helping to shape the defence policy portfolio of one of Central Europe’s foremost think tanks. In 2022, he was selected as a ReThink CEE Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States and as a Fellow of the Arms Control Negotiation Academy (ACONA) established by Harvard University, focusing on regional cooperation and strategic arms control. His work reflects a sustained interest in the intersection of technology, deterrence dynamics, and long-term strategic foresight.
