Virginia Arnecchi is a policy practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in several conflict and disaster affected countries and countries. Her professional experience includes diverse positions, as crisis advisor and strategic planning, political and policy officer and project manager for the UN the EU and private sector. Virginia obtained her graduate degree in Political Science- International Relations from the University of Sorbonne. She is trained in crisis prevention and recovery, disaster risk reduction, certified in PM2 -Project Management and European project funding. During the Covid-19 pandemic she joined the European Commission’s Covid-19 Task Force as crisis manager expert, focusing on response and implementing the revamped EU health security architecture notably in health preparedness planning and training. She is interested in exploring the topics of European Integration through EU policymaking in crisis preparedness and response, regional integration and funding frameworks to strengthen EU Preparedness capacities, resources and cross sectoral approaches. As visiting fellow at the STG her research objectives areto examine EU preparedness to cross border health crisis and related regulatory frameworks, funding, structures and process to assess gaps and tools to improve cross border preparedness, as well as to examine capacity strengthening needs in the field of public health emergencies and health crisis prevention preparedness and response planning, in view of integrating all-hazards and cross sectoral approaches into training curricula open to EU and non-EU nationals .
