Research project Diplomatic Intimacies: Asia in Indian Womens' Postcolonial Thought Print Share: Share on Facebook Share on BlueSky Share on X Share on LinkedIn Send by email The idea of Asia changes from where and who conceptualizes it and is not limited to mere cartographical logics. The focus of this study is to interrogate this shape-shifting idea of Asia and understand how it expanded and contracted in the early years of postcolonial Indian internationalism, in the age of decolonisation. DI-APT will explain this evolving phenomenon by interrogating ‘Asia’ through diplomatic intimacies, embodied and performed by anti-imperial Indian women leaders - the forgotten actors of global diplomatic history. In this excavation, the project will primarily rely onhistorical documents held across archives in UK, Geneva and India.
