Research project Lebanon and the Palestinian Political Map. Politics through disarmament. Print Share: Share on Facebook Share on BlueSky Share on X Share on LinkedIn Send by email This project and its essential fieldwork build on my ongoing research about “Lebanon and the Palestinian political map." It focuses on disarming all militias in Lebanon, especially Hezbollah and Palestinian factions, amid increasing pressures from Israel, the US, and Saudi Arabia. The use of weapons by Palestinians has shifted from fighting Israel to internal conflicts. Mahmoud Abbas’s recent visit to Beirut revealed differing views on disarmament, highlighting Lebanese authorities’ caution to avoid civil war and the Palestinian Authority’s struggle to assert influence. The challenges of disarmament reveal broader power struggles, requiring detailed analysis of the relationships between Palestinian and Lebanese politics.
