On 28 January 2003, European Commission President, Romano Prodi, addressed the EUI alumni, at a Dinner at the Hotel Renaissance in Brussels. EUI President Yves Mény and his wife attended the dinner. So did Jean-Victor Louis, Professor of Law at the EUI and Jean-Claude Eeckhout, Prodi's Cabinet and EUI High Council member, and most Members of the new Executive Committee of the EUI Alumni Association. EUI President Yves Mény and Francisco Torres, representing the Alumni Association, addressed the audience and thanked President Prodi.

The following day, Francisco Torres, president of the AA, presented his latest book on EMU and Cohesion at the 1st alumni seminar in Brussels, with the collaboration of CEPS; he gave also a presentation, at a 2nd Alumni Seminar in Brussels on 4 February 2003, on 'EU Governance and the On-going Convention Debate', discussed by alumnus Joachim Wuermerling, MEP and Member of the EU Convention.
