Asli Selin Okyay is a post doctoral research associate at the BORDERLANDS project hosted by the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute.
She obtained her PhD (2015) in Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute with her thesis “Diaspora-making as a state-led project: Turkey's expansive diaspora strategy and its implications for emigrant and kin populations”. She holds an M.Phil in Migration Studies from University of Oxford (2009), an M.A. (2007) and a B.A. (2005) in Political Science and International Relations from Bogazici University, Istanbul.
Her research interests include diaspora politics and policies; transborder political membership; interdependence in the EU-Southern Mediterranean context; EU-Turkey relations in the fields of migration and border management; geopolitics and geoeconomics of Turkey.
