Description
Module description
The course provides a one-semester introduction to the subject of environmental economics. Topics covered include how to perform cost–benefit analysis, how law and regulation influence incentives to pollute, and how to harness the market to reduce pollution through taxes and tradable permits. The course also provides a short introduction to the subject of natural resource economics. Topics covered include the efficient management of renewable and non-renewable natural resources.
Assessment
Class Presentation (50%): 45 minutes class presentation of a paper in environmental or natural resources economics chosen in consultation with me.
Paper Proposal (50%): 2-3 page long proposal for a paper in environmental or natural resources economics.
Attendance Compulsory.
