Description

The 2022 Academy of European Law summer course on Human Rights Law focused on race and transitional justice. The workshop brings together EUI researchers with the five prominent lecturers who taught the specialized courses. These lecturers will be preparing chapters for the edited collection (to be included in the Collected Courses of the Academy of European Law series, published by OUP) and the draft chapters will be discussed during the workshop.

EUI researchers will be given an opportunity to act as discussants, thus enhancing their skills in critical and constructive engagement with texts and public speaking.

Topics to be explored in the volume include: the movement for black lives; international justice and race in criminal trials; genocide; slavery and colonialism; transitional justice, race and temporality.

Speakers:

  • Zinaida Miller, Assistant Professor of International Law & Human Rights, School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Seton Hall University

  • Colleen Murphy, Roger and Stephany Joslin Professor of Law, University of Illinois College of Law

  • Vasuki Nesiah, Professor of Human Rights and International Law at The Gallatin School, New York University
