Description

Open to 2nd, 3rd, 4th year researchers (LIMITED to 10 participants, priority given to 4th and 3rd year researchers).
Please note that registering does not guarantee a spot in the workshop. The final list of participants will be communicated as soon as the registrations are closed.

We welcome researchers working in fields of EU law, ECHR and comparative European public & private law. Participants must register for the workshop as for other seminars.
The Workshop will take the form of a series of sessions during the second and third terms with the aim of discussing and helping researchers to improve a draft paper / thesis chapter they are working on. The final session in May will be organized as a feedback session, where the researchers will discuss their progress with the writing.
Our aim is to help you to refine and sharpen your arguments and how you present them, to improve your writing skills, and to give you practice in critiquing the work of others.

Participants commit to the following:

  1. Submission of a draft paper of maximum 6000 words by February, 1st. This may be (part of) a chapter of your thesis. It should be comprehensible as a self-standing piece but not necessarily intended as a publishable freestanding paper. Please include at the beginning an explanation (maximum one page) of how the draft paper fits into the overall thesis project.
  2. Reading the draft papers of fellow participants and preparing oral comments as a discussant to two such papers during the workshop sessions.
  3. Attending all workshop sessions.

First, Second & Third Term: registration from 19 to 26 September.
