Distinguished Lecture: Professor Anu Bradford, Henry L Moses Professor of Law and International Organization at the University of Columbia Law School.

General Course: “From Brexit to Breakthrough: The European Union's Unlikely Renaissance”. The General Course will be given by Professor Katerina Linos, who is I. Michael Heymann Professor of Law of the University of California. She will examine how, despite coming close to collapse after the economic crisis, Brexit and the mishandling of the Syrian refugee crisis in 2015, the European Union has rebounded following the COVID-19 pandemic with new initiatives across multiple policy fields, new sources of funding and modes of governance. In her course, Professor Linos will address the central puzzle of how the EU has managed to generate redistribute solidarity to underpin these initiatives in a continent lacking a shared national identity.

Specialized Courses: European Union Law and Social Conflict, led by Professor Loïc Azoulai

Mini-courses will be given on a range of different topics within this theme by:

  • Professor Floris de Witte, LSE: The Legal Geography of Social Conflicts in Europe
  • Professor Virginia Passalacqua, University of Turin: Social Conflicts and the Mobilization of European Law
  • Professor Hanna Eklund, University of Copenhagen: Social Conflicts and EU Law from a Post-colonial Perspective
  • Professor Raphaële Xenidis (Sciences po Paris) & Professor Nozizwe Dube (University of Maastricht): Social Groups, Social Conflict & EU Anti-discrimination law
  • Professor Giacomo Tagiuri, University of Amsterdam: Local Conflicts & EU Law
