Description
James Madison University, Scuola di Scienze Politiche “Cesare Alfieri” of Università degli Studi di Firenze and the Florence School of Transnational Governance at EUI are offering a joint Model European Union Simulation focusing on EU foreign affairs in Florence bringing together faculty and students from the three institutions. The Model EU – Foreign Affairs Simulation (MEU-FAS) enables students to develop and practice policy analysis, diplomacy, negotiation, team-building, and cross-cultural communication skills. This course is meant to train the students to truly comprehend the inner workings of the European policy-making system.
The course is supported and assisted by practitioners from the EU institutions, who share with the students their invaluable insider knowledge and vision about the day-to-day workings of the EU's most important institutions and the structural, organizational, ideological and political reasons behind specific policy decisions by Brussels actors.
The students work on actual EU legislative materials under the guidance of academics and EU professionals to step in the shoes of EU decision makers and negotiate about the most controversial policy dilemmas of the day.
