Description
The Seminar will examine existing mechanisms for regional cooperation, integration and governance among states in different continents: Africa, America, Asia, Oceania and Europe. The Seminar will evade any temptation of Eurocentrism in the approach favoring rather horizontal comparison and analysis. It looks at the political and economic factors beyond creation, maintenance and, eventually, success of regional governance through comparison.
Conceiving students as prospective professionals, policy makers and institution builders, the seminar familiarizes them with the theory and practice of institution building and policy-making in regional governance. Lectures, reading material and in class activities on institutional organization, mechanisms and skills will enable students to learn on the value of these forms for regulating transnational governance. The skills developed will make students attractive for regional organizations.
