Description
In our increasingly science-driven world, proficiency in understanding the ways we produce, apply and distribute scientific knowledge is increasingly desirable in a variety of job markets – well beyond academia. Qualitative research methods continue to be some of the most commonly used and relevant research techniques in academic research. Consequently, this course provides a combination of theory and practical training in qualitative research methods – the tools we use to collect, evaluate, analyze and disseminate empirical data. The teaching format includes lectures, class discussions and practical exercises. In doing so, the course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the most common qualitative methods, its use and evaluation. The course is also intended to be applicable to students’ master research projects. Students are therefore encouraged to attend the course with some (however preliminary) ideas about their thesis and work on it throughout the course.
