The EUI Mourns the Sad Loss of Prof. Peter Mair

Peter Mair

It is with great sadness and shock that the EUI mourns the sudden loss of Professor Peter Mair, Dean of Studies.

Prof. Mair, who passed away suddenly on Monday 15th August whilst on holiday in Ireland, will be sincerely missed as a great friend, colleague and scholar.

Prof. Mair was an exceptionally valued member of the EUI community, whose dedication to the Institute's development and to his academic field will be gratefully remembered.

The EUI remains close to his wife and family at this difficult time. Last week, Prof. Bartolini and Dr. Frijdal flew to Ireland in representation of the Institute to support Peter's family.

President Borrell assures the EUI community that the Institute will honour Prof. Mair's memory in a way that adequately reflects his invaluable contribution to the EUI and academic community.

Obituary by Peter Murtagh for the Irish Times (20 August 2011).
