Exhibition "I Colori del Mito" by Onofrio Pepe

Medusa, I Colori del MitoFrom 15 September to 15 November the European University Institute will host the exhibition “I Colori del Mito” by Onofrio Pepe.

The 30 pieces of art will be displayed in the Cloister and in the Lower Loggia of the Badia Fiesolana.

Onofrio Pepe is a contemporary Italian sculptor based in Florence and the subjects of his works are exclusively related to the "Myth", that is, together with the colours and their expressive power, at the heart of the exhibition.

Pepe is the author of several important works such as the "Porta del Mito", placed in the new headquarters of the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze;  the "Athena", created for the University of Florence; and the “Woman with Dove”, donated by the Consiglio Regionale della Toscana to the city of New York on the second anniversary of the Twin Towers terrorist attack.

The exhibition “I Colori del Mito” has been organised in the framework of the long-standing relationship between the Institute and Maestro Pepe.

The EUI Library hosts a wood and clay sculpture of “Porta del Mito” and other pieces of art by Onofrio Pepe are located in the garden and all around the Badia.  In 2002, the European University Institute organised the exhibition "Il Mito d'Europa", inaugurated by the President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. Among the well-known visitors of the exhibition were the President of the Portuguese Republic and Prince Charles of England.

The exhibition is open to the public from 15 September to 15 November 2011 – Monday to Friday - 09.00 – 19.00 – Badia Fiesolana, Via dei Roccettini, 9, San Domenico di Fiesole (FI) - Free entrance.
