A seminar on “The role of university cooperation in post-conflict reconciliation” will take place on 25 May at the European University Institute. Jointly organized by the European Association of International Studies (AESI), the Representation of the European Commission, the Office of the European Parliament in Italy, and the Università degli studi di Firenze, in collaboration with the EUI, the programme will focus on inter-university cooperation as an important tool for promoting reconciliation between young people divided by conflicts. The focus will be in particular on Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and on Lebanon and Bosnia.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss experiences and opportunities in the field, and will consider the organisers’ commitment to fostering knowledge and respect, both on a national and on an international level. During the seminar the roles of educational and academic institutions as crucial tools of public diplomacy in action for young people will be analyzed, as well as the degree to which they can be vehicles of integration for an effective management of cultural and religious diversity.
The two sessions will take place in a roundtable format. The first will cover academic considerations (theories and practice), while the second will consist of presentations by students and researchers.
All EUI Researchers are warmly invited to attend the seminar.
