Biography

While a Max Weber Fellow 2011-2012, I was an Adjunct Professor of International Human Rights at NYU Florence and taught a Masters’ Course on Global Governance and International Law at the Law School of Lille Catholic University.
Prior to joining the European University Institute as a Max Weber Fellow, I was a HLS’ Summer Academic Fellow after I completed my LL.M. at Harvard Law School. In 2009-2010, I held the position of Fellow in Global Governance at the Watson Institute at Brown University.
In 2010, I completed my Ph.D. in International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva from where I obtained my M.A. in 2005. I also hold an LL.B. (5 years) from University Complutense of Madrid and other advanced degrees from Spanish universities.
Other than publishing around 35 journal articles and chapters in books, I have translated and prologued several academic books, co-edited a book, and guess-edited a couple of international law journal issues. In 2012-2013, I plan to finish my monograph “In the Shadow of Vitoria – A History of International Law” (Brill Publishers) and to continue to collaborate with the EUI’s Global Governance Programme. My research interests as a Max Weber Fellow 2012-2013 focus on international law, global governance, EU law and institutions, comparative criminal law and the history of European and international legal thought.
