Biography

I am a political theorist and a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Political Science (Ohio State University). Starting in the Autumn of 2013, I'll be an assistant professor.
My research focuses on the politics of immigration and race, democratic theory, and sovereignty. My book project addresses normative dimensions of the politics of immigration by grounding them in their historical context, the contemporary development of institutions of enforcement, and the political action by immigrants and their allies.
My work also relies on careful contextual interpretations of historical political thought and a critical assessment of its contemporary use. My broader single and co-authored research studies race and racialization of Latinos and Muslim French citizens, explores the role of gender and race in structuring identity, and investigates immigration through the perspective of American political development.
