Biography

Maria Laura Marceddu specializes in international investment law. Her research is centred mainly on European investment law and policy, and its repercussions on the international regime of foreign investment. More broadly, her research interests focus on international economic law, international economic relations and governance, international trade and investment law. She earned her Ph.D. in international economic law from King’s College London, where she has also been appointed as a visiting lecturer in international investment law, and as a fellow at the Centre of European Law. Prior to this, she worked as a teaching fellow at the University of Edinburgh (Law School), and is a fellow at the Edinburgh Centre for International and Global Law (ECIGL).

She has published peer-reviewed articles, most in leading journals such as the European Journal of International Law, the Journal of International Economic Law, the Yearbook on Investment Law and Policy (Oxford University Press).

During the EUI Fellowship, she will work on a book project entitled ‘Spreading of EU values in investment law and policy’, which analyses the transmission of the European Union’s core values into the international regime on foreign investment.

Expertise for Teaching and Mentoring of Ph.D. Researchers
Maria Laura has delivered lectures and seminars in English, Italian, and, occasionally, French, at various universities around the world. She has taught courses on international law (undergraduate, postgraduate), international investment law (undergraduate, LL.M.), international trade law (LL.M.), international investment arbitration (LL.M.), international organizations (LL.M.), and international economic law (postgraduate).
