Biography

Umberto Muratori's research interests lie at the intersection of economic growth and labour economics. His research on economic growth seeks to understand the interaction between innovation, business dynamics, and macroeconomic outcomes. His research on labour topics uses US Census administrative data to study the labour market's functioning during recessions, with particular emphasis on demographic minorities. His research approach starts from a rigorous empirical analysis to discipline quantitative models developed to address policy-relevant questions. As a Max Weber Fellow, Umberto aims to conclude several projects on his research agenda and open new avenues for his research.

Before joining Georgetown University, Umberto worked as Research Fellow at the Inter-American Development Bank. During his PhD degree, he was also a Dissertation Scholar at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth.

He holds a PhD in Economics from Georgetown University, an M.A. in Economics from the University of Bonn, and a B.A. degree in European Economics from the University of Tor Vergata.

Umberto worked as an instructor for the Economic Statistics course for undergraduate students at Georgetown University. He was a Teaching Assistant for several courses, including Econometrics I for PhD students and Principles of Macroeconomics, International Finance, and Money, Banking, and Financial Markets for undergraduate students.
