Biography

Mario Munta is Assistant Professor in Public Policy at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Zagreb. He received his PhD in Political Science from the Central European University on the topic of the influence of the European semester on domestic employment policy. He is author of EU Socio-Economic Governance in Central and Eastern Europe (Routledge, 2021). Before joining the EUI, he was carrying out fieldwork in Brussels as a visiting researcher at Université Libre de Bruxelles (IEE-ULB) in spring 2021. As a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at RSCAS, he will work on topics of democratic legitimacy, the greening and systemic policy integration in EU's socio-economic recovery and resilience framework.

His research interests include EU socio-economic governance, Europeanization of public policy, Social Europe, Economic and Monetary Union and European integration.

Mario has collected extensive teaching experience since 2015 and teaches courses in Public Policy, EU Public Policy and Statistics at the University of Zagreb. During his time at Uni Zagreb, he innovated several course syllabi to include elements of service learning, student simulations and practical learning. In 2021, he re-introduced the course Europeanization of Public Policy with a fresh syllabus. In 2017, he assisted in the Jean Monnet module on European Integration at CEU, and since 2015 he regularly assists in teaching qualitative data analysis courses at the ECPR Method School. In 2019 he received the Dirk Berg-Schlosser award for outstanding pedagogy from ECPR.
