Two vacancies offered by the Department of History and Civilization (EUI)

Posted on 12 May 2016

The Department of History and Civilization (HEC) at the European University Institute (EUI) invites applications for two research assistant posts in the framework of the ERC-funded research project “Looking West: the European Socialist regimes facing pan-European cooperation and the European Community” (PanEur1970s).

The posts are post-doctoral positions, one focusing on German Democratic Republic (GDR) and European cooperation in the 1970s and the other on Bulgaria and European cooperation in the 1970s. Both posts are for a 24-month period starting from October 2016.

The appointed candidates will receive a monthly net salary of approximately 2500€ depending on qualifications and allowances. In addition, funding for research missions and participation to international conferences will also be provided.

For both posts the candidates should have a PhD in History, preferably in international or economic history, or in a closely related discipline as well as research experience on GDR’s or Bulgaria’s archival records (depending on the post).

For the GDR the candidate should be fluent in German and for the Bulgaria post fluent in Bulgarian. Good command of English is also needed for both posts. Knowledge of other European languages may constitute an advantage but is not required.

To apply for the posts read the vacancy notices; GDR and Bulgaria. Applicants must fill in the on-line application form (same for both posts) and upload documents as requested.

Deadline for applications is on 31 May 2016.
