The documents reflect Samuele Pii's activities, mainly as a militant of the Gioventù Federalista Europea (GFE) and of the Movimento Federalista Europeo (MFE) from 1995, and include correspondence, reports of seminars, conferences and federalist activities, press reviews, articles, official MFE and GFE documents. The fonds also includes a series of documents concerning the work of the European Convention of which Pii was member of the Youth Convention for the Future of Europe.

Samuele Pii studied History of European Integration at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Florence, with a thesis on the work of the European Convention. He was spokesman for youth delegations during meetings with politicians (Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, President of the Italian Republic from 1999 to 2006; Romano Prodi, former Prime Minister of Italy and President of the European Commission from 1999 to 2004; Jacques Delors, President of the European Commission from 1985 to 1995), and in acknowledgment of his efforts he was appointed "European citizen of the year" in 2000. He participated in numerous youth conventions, he was a speaker at conferences and seminars. In 2006 he represented JEF-Italia during the visit of President Napolitano to Ventotene, on the occasion of the commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of Altiero Spinelli's death. Between 2007 and 2009 he held the position of president of JEF-Europe.
