International Archives Day 2020: EU archivists present their favourite documents

In order to celebrate International Archives Day 2020, the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU), working in collaboration with the archives services of EU institutions, presents an online exhibition.

Held every year on June 9th, International Archives Day aims to raise public awareness and discusses the importance of archives. The HAEU’s exhibition therefore seeks to present a view of what being an archivist actually entails and the emotional connection that is built up over the process of treating a collection. Furthermore, it shows the network of archivists working in EU institutions and the HAEU that exists across Europe and works in a diverse transnational environment. Each participating archivist has drawn upon archival documents and visual materials held in the HAEU and EU institutional archives to select a document or image that speaks to them.
