Funding Information for Ireland/Éire
No separate funding application is required. The application for admission to the EUI doctoral programme is automatically an application for a national grant.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Candidates who are Irish nationals and resident in Ireland for at least 3 of the last five years are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who hold dual nationality (of which one is Irish) and are resident in Ireland for at least 3 of the last 5 years are eligible to apply.
- Candidates who are nationals of the EEA states (EU member states, Iceland, Norway & Liechtenstein) and Switzerland and have been resident in Ireland for a minimum of 5 years are eligible to apply.

- Monthly grant: 1,386 EUR
- Family allowance: yes
- Travel allowance: yes
- Insurance: yes
The authority provides a monthly grant for the first three years of EUI Ph.D. Programme. The fourth year is covered by the EUI (2021 grant is 1,365 EUR per month, in addition to other allowances).
