EUI signs partnership agreement with European Court of Auditors

Posted on 22 May 2017

On 22 May 2017, the European University Institute and the European Court of Auditors signed a partnership agreement with the aim of encouraging closer cooperation between the two institutions.

The European Court of Auditors already has an agreement with the Historical Archives of the European Union, through which it provides grants for researchers from any discipline engaged in research on European public finances and their impact.

The new agreement, signed by President of the EUI, Professor Renaud Dehousse, sets out a wider framework for cooperation. In future, collaboration may involve hosting and organizing events, drafting reports and studies, residential and in-house training programme and improving information sharing and access to documentation. The partnership agreement will also lead to internships for staff and researchers at the European Court of Auditors, and staff exchanges between the two institutions.

Before signing the agreement, the ECA delegation was given a guided tour of Villa Salviati and the Historical Archives of the European Union with Dieter Schlenker, the Director of the HAEU and Archivist Ruth Meyer.

At a meeting in Sala Del Capitolo, ECA Secretary General Eduardo Ruiz Garcia expressed his happiness that the EUI and ECA were working together once again. The discussion included EUI President Renaud Dehousse, Secretary General Vincenzo Grassi, and key members of academic and administrative staff from the EUI, HAEU and Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. ‘We had a very fruitful meeting,’ confirmed EUI Secretary General Grassi.

The agreement, which entered into force on 22 May 2017, will be valid for three years.
