To be eligible for the SPS Summer Academy, all candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be enrolled in or have obtained a Master’s degree or equivalent;*
  • Must be Proficient in English;
  • Must have a background in political science or sociology.

Kindly note, that only complete applications will be taken into consideration, no exception will be made. To submit a complete application, all candidates will have to provide the following documents:

  • Updated CV and transcript of grades;**
  • One letter of recommendation by a faculty member from your University;
  • A motivation letter (2 pages) for why you should be admitted to the Summer Academy, which also includes a discussion of a research question in political science or sociology. This research question should fall into one of the three broad topics: 1 – Institutions, Preferences and Policy Change; 2 – Political Behavior and Parties; 3 – Micro-Foundations of Social Inequalities and Polarisation. The document should include references to the relevant academic literature*** and can be an outline of the research you (want to) pursue in your Master’s thesis or other work.

 

* Doctoral students are not eligible.
* Current EUI students (including those from the STG) are not eligible.
* We do not apply any restrictions in terms of nationality.
** Preferably in English.
*** You can use any referencing style so long as it is used consistently.

3 April to 15 May: Applications are open.

16 June: All applicants will be notified whether they did or did not obtain the scholarship.

30 June: Acceptance/refusal deadline.

8 September (at the latest): Recommended day of arrival.

9 – 13 September: SPS Summer Academy.
