He received his Ph.D. in History at University College London (UCL) in 2002. His current fields of research are the early modern history of trade and exchange between Europe and Asia, global economic history, the history of material culture, gifting and consumption, and the history of manufacturing in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
