The Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre (ADG) was established in 2015 by the EUI’s then-President Joseph Weiler to foster academic research on the history of European integration. As a joint initiative that combines the expertise of the EUI’s Department of History with the resources available at the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU), the Centre hosts research projects, facilitates the use of primary sources, supports young researchers, promotes innovative methodologies, coordinates networks of historians, and stimulates public interest in the history of European integration.
The Centre is co-directed by Emmanuel Mourlon-Druol, Professor of the History of European Cooperation and Integration in the EUI's Department of History and Civilisation, and Dieter Schlenker, Director of HAEU. An Advisory Board composed of academic experts in European Studies offers guidance and general strategic advice, while a Steering Committee composed of the co-directors, a scientific coordinator, and EUI PhD researcher representatives defines the Centre’s annual calendar of academic activities.
