Course contents

This interactive workshop is designed to help historians working in a source language other than English to create effective translations for their dissertations. The workshop will be divided into 2 sections: Language matters, which will explore editorial guidelines, the ins and outs of usage and style, punctuation, specific terminologies, and more; and Technical matters, which will look at citation style, text layout, quotations, and more.

Additional information

Prior to the workshop, students will be asked to choose a passage related to their research to translate into English and will have the possibility during the lesson of discussing issues that came up while translating it into English. 

Teacher's bio

This workshop will be led by Karen Whittle, an experienced academic translator and the Chair of the Associazione Italiana Traduttori e Interpreti.
