Enrolment and Course Fees

CALL courses are free for EUI PhD and LL.M. researchers. Other EUI members may be required to pay course fees. Check your category below to find out whether and how much you have to pay.

Courses in any language other than English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish are at the expense of the participant. See the Additional Languages page for more information.

Enrolling in a course

  • All EUI members (including visiting students, researchers, fellows and professors)
  • EUI administrative staff
  • EUI partners

You must enrol in a course before attending a class meeting. You may enrol at any time but, if the term is more than two weeks underway, you must contact the teacher first. If you enrol in a course which is already full, you will be placed on a waiting list.

For those who have access to the PDM, a request must be inserted before each term.

1. From the course catalogue menu, select:

  • the language you are interested in studying (English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish);
  • or the Target group to which you belong (all EUI members, Fellows, Researchers, STG Masters Students);
  • or your department.

2. Select the course that interests you.

3. Read the course description

4. Click the "Enrol Now" button, fill in the enrolment form, click submit at the bottom of the page.

  • For *French, German, Italian, or Spanish, please read the relevant information below before enrolling.

French, German, or Spanish

  • Absolute beginners: Absolute beginners for French, German and Spanish do not need to sit a placement test. They can register directly for the respective A1 course. Please note that the courses for absolute beginners start in October.
  • Learners with previous knowledge: If you are not a beginner and have not participated in an EUI course before, you must sit a placement test.
  • Continuing Learners: Learners who have already participated in a course do not need to take a placement test. They can directly enrol in the course indicated by the teacher (steps 3 and 4).

 Italian

  • Newcomers: Fill in the Italian pre-enrolment form. You will be contacted to sit a placement test and the correct level of course will be recommended to you
  • Continuing students: You can enrol directly in the course and module indicated by your teacher in the previous course.
  • For any questions, please contact us.

Where there is an insufficient number of participants, the course may not run.

The CALL teaching calendar is divided into three blocks aligned with departmental seminar schedules. Some courses run year-round, while others are offered for a single term only. All courses, regardless of length, require re-registration at the start of a new term.

  • The first term runs from October to December, spanning eight weeks.
  • The second term runs from January to March, spanning ten weeks.
  • The third term runs from April to May, spanning six weeks.

The CALL calendar also includes a two week pre-session in September, and short summer sessions in June.

Once you have enrolled in a course, please attend every class meeting. If you cannot attend a meeting for work-related, medical, or family reasons, justify your absence with your teacher. If you wish to withdraw, please write to the CALL Administrative Officer.

If you are absent for more than two meetings without justification, you may lose your place in the course.
