Title of session: Transnational Infrastructures as Policy Tools
The panel will discuss the role of transnational infrastructures as policy tools. Starting from the premise that transnational material networks are not neutral infrastructures but mediating structures with political, cultural and economic dimensions, the speakers will explore their role in two regions, the Western Balkans and South America. Against this background, they will compare the different experiences of each region looking for common patterns and debating on policy changes needed in order to minimise the misuse of transnational material networks and maximise the benefits for the involved societies.
